As an experiment I based some 6mm Napoleonic Russian Cavalry on 3 inch squares and now on 2 inch squares to compare how they look
Here are the 2 inch squares. I think they look a lot better than my earlier effort with 3 inch squares. It may be that more figures would make the 3 inch squares look better. 3 inch squares may also be more attractive for infantry, with a few skirmishers out in front. But I'm now satisfied that 2 inch squares look good for cavalry.
