Napoleonic Wargaming in the Grand Manner

Personal budgets, and lack of space, often restrict our gaming. A 'cast of thousands' is an ideal that many Wargamers are not able to realise. Armchair Generals are sometimes left with just a few figures per base and sparse forces with which to 'extend the limits of glory'.

A few lucky Wargamers are able to amass vast armies. Someone has given me several thousand 6mm Adler miniatures Napoleonic figures which I have just finished painting. I'm posting these pictures so that you can enjoy this army by proxy.

These figures are mainly based on three inch square bases. There are 106-110 infantry figures to a base and 27 cavalry. Artillery bases have two guns, eight crew, six horses, three mounted riders, a limber, miscellaneous drummers and command staff. This is not an economy basing scheme!

French Napoleonic infantry

Adler Napoleonic infantry are sold in strips. They are very pretty but it is necessary to cut each one from the strip for basing. This is particularly painful since they don't stand up after separation. I had to glue each one to the base with super glue to stop them falling over. One additional complication of using super glue, over PVA glue which I normally use, is that you can't shift the position of figures after you put them into place.
